It’s Almost Springtime

6 more weeks of winter or spring is just around the corner?

The groundhog has spoken.   Spring is just around the corner as the famous groundhog didn’t see it’s shadow so before we know it, spring time will be here and we’ll need to prepare our yards and trees from what we hope to be a nice growing year with just enough moisture to keep everything in pristine condition.

As we talk about the groundhog named Phill, we must rememeber that the 4 legged critter has only been correct about 39% of the time.   That makes me wonder if we would be better off hoping that he predicts 6 more weeks of winter because our odds would have been better.

Back to reality though and it’s is time to start thinking about warmer weather and what you’ll need to do to keep your trees in pristine condition.   Hopefully you raked your leaves up around the tree base in the fall so they aren’t still sitting there.  If that’s not the case and you have a lot of leaves near the base of your tree, you should work on getting that cleaned up soon.  Your trees will need to breathe and if the ground around them is covered, they’ll struggle at best.

We also recommend having a yearly inspection of your trees and at that time a determination should be made on whether to trim back your tree or keep it growing freely.  We have some customers who have us trim on a yearly bases and of course that depends on what kind of tree a person has.  If we don’t feel the tree needs trimmed yearly, we’ll let you know as we don’t want you to spend money when it’s not necessary.  A well maintained tree can live hundreds of years.

We always give free estimates so if you would like for us to come out and check your trees, just give us a ring and we’ll do it.  At that point, we’ll give you a recommendation and explain to you how best to keep your awesome tree full of life.   A tree is similar to humans in many ways and most of us don’t realize that.  A human who has taken very good care of themselves over the years can live a very long time or they could die at a very young age.   A tree is similar as they can live for hundreds of years or die after 5.  You just never know but with that being said, it’s still best to keep your tree maintained on a yearly basis in most cases.

Our family is here to serve you and if an emergency service arrises, we should be able to help with that as well.  We’ll give you an affordable and honest estimate with no pressure.   We hope to hear from you and thanks again for your time.   We are happy to serve you in and around the Bridgeport, CT area.   Have a great day and thank you.
